Bible Translation Projects

FSM Bibles works across all four states of the Federated States of Micronesia to translate, publish, and distribute Scripture and hymn books in local languages. Each project focuses on making God's Word accessible in the heart language of every island community.

The Bible translation work of FSM Bibles spans all four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, bringing Scripture into the heart languages of island communities across Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap, and Kosrae. Each translation project is built around the conviction that God's Word should be accessible to every believer in the language they understand most deeply. From the Pohnpeian New and Old Bible translations to the Kapingamarangi Bible project, translators work closely with local churches and community members to ensure accuracy and cultural relevance. Hymn books are developed alongside Scripture translations, preserving the rich tradition of worship in each language and supporting congregational singing in local churches throughout the islands.

The Chuuk and Kosrae projects focus on both digital Bible platforms and printed hymn books, making God's Word available in formats that meet the needs of modern readers while honoring traditional worship practices. Digital Bibles allow believers to access Scripture on their phones and devices, which is especially valuable for younger generations and for those living away from their home islands. The hymn books preserve beloved songs in Chuukese and Kosraen, enabling congregations to worship in their own languages. These projects are sustained through the dedicated work of translators, reviewers, and local church leaders who collaborate to ensure that every word is rendered faithfully and every song is preserved with care.

The Yap project includes a digital Bible and a Yapese hymn book, while the Pohnpei project encompasses multiple translation efforts, including the new and old Bible translations, the Pohnpeian Bible, and the Pohnpei hymn book. Each of these initiatives follows a careful process of drafting, community review, and revision, ensuring that the language used is both accurate to the original texts and natural for everyday speakers. The Kapingamarangi Bible translation represents a particularly significant effort, serving a smaller language community with the full Word of God in their own tongue. These projects reflect a long-term commitment to Scripture accessibility across the diverse linguistic landscape of the FSM.

Beyond the translation work itself, FSM Bibles provides ongoing updates, news, and resources for churches and individuals interested in following the progress of each project. The website serves as a central hub where visitors can learn about upcoming milestones, access downloads, and find contact information for those overseeing the work in each state. Prayer is encouraged as a vital part of the translation process, recognizing that faithful Scripture work requires both skill and spiritual dependence. The ultimate goal is that every island community in the FSM would have God's Word and hymns available in their own language, strengthening local churches and enabling believers to grow in faith through Scripture they can truly call their own.
